The Merlaeku brothers Apae, Asor, Nat, Amae, and Bas, members of the Akha Hilltribe, have been instrumental in transforming their community’s coffee production. Since 2015, they've partnered with Beanspire to implement a "Kenya-style" double washed process, a method that involves pulping cherries, fermenting them without water, followed by a second fermentation with water, and then a final soaking and washing phase. This meticulous process, combined with drying on bamboo raised beds, results in a coffee that is clean, vibrant, and full of character.
