Why Our Prices Change
An Open Note from Chromatic Coffee Co.
What’s Driving the Change?
Tariffs & Market Disruptions
Recent U.S. tariffs, like the 50% levy on Brazilian coffee, have pushed green coffee prices up more than 30% in just a few weeks. Even coffees we don’t source from Brazil are affected, because the global market reacts to Brazil’s supply and pricing. These same tariffs are impacting Colombia and other origins as well, many of which are foundational to our offerings.
Climate Challenges
Frost and drought in major producing countries like Brazil and Vietnam are tightening supply and driving up costs, especially for higher-quality lots like the ones we source.
Packaging & Supply Chain Costs
It’s not just beans. Everything from paper cups to compostable bags to freight cost more due to both tariffs and global inflation. Even our local suppliers are seeing these effects ripple through.
Why We’re Telling You
We believe in transparency. You deserve to know where your dollars go, and we want to keep you informed about the realities of specialty coffee in 2025.
We’re still the same passionate, independent team roasting fresh every day, dialing in quality, and doing everything we can to serve you something special. These price changes help us maintain that standard while supporting sustainable sourcing and fair wages across the supply chain.
Thank you for your continued support. We’re honored to be your daily ritual, your weekend reward, or your special treat, and we promise to keep showing up with excellence in every cup.
☕ With gratitude,
The Chromatic Crew
